Celine Dion's First Single In Years Is An Instant Sales Smash

For a number of years, it seemed like Celine Dion's singing career was over. The superstar came forward some time ago to reveal a diagnosis with a condition known as Stiff Person's Syndrome, which affects her muscles and meant, for a time, that she wasn't able to sing.

Dion's return to the world stage was a spectacular one -- the kind that only she could pull off. The Canadian singer appeared aspart of the Olympics opening ceremony, during which she performed a French standard from on top of the Eiffel Tower. Weeks after she delivered a show for the ages, Dion has formally released that cut, and it's become an instant sales smash.

On Thursday (October 10), Dion finally gave the world a proper recorded rendition of "Hymne A L'Amour," the cut she sang at the Olympics. It may have been a few weeks late, but her followers responded by purchasing the tune in large numbers right away.

"Hymne A L'Amour" was released with only about one day left in the tracking week. While it may have started its life with a real handicap in terms of reaching the charts, the song has still managed to reach several charts, thanks largely to Dion's popularity, and how much everyone seems to enjoy being a part of her comeback story.

This week, "Hymne A L'Amour" arrives on both the Official Singles Downloads (No. 81) and Official Singles Sales (No. 89) charts. Next frame, it seems likely that Dion's recording will rise higher on those two tallies, and perhaps reach several others, once its first complete tracking frame has finished.

Despite the fact that she's largely been on vocal rest for years, Dion has actually managed a trio of new hits on both of those tallies in 2024 alone. Earlier this year, she earned a smash as a credited artist on the tune "Set My Heart On Fire," which is fronted by electronic producers Majestic and Jammin Kid. They used part of the singer's vocals from a past track and repurposed them, making her work into something new and fresh.

As "Set My Heart On Fire" debuted and climbed the charts, another, older Dion track also managed a surprising comeback. That new tune uses Dion's vocals from her own track "I'm Alive," and its popularity helped the original finally debuted on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads rankings following the catchy remix of sorts.
