Microsoft Corp's (NASDAQ:MSFT) focus on AI agents -- intelligent programmes designed to automate business processes -- marks a critical step in the company's efforts to reshape industries, according to analysts at Wedbush Securities.
These agents, which integrate across Microsoft's software and cloud platforms, were the centrepiece of the Ignite conference, where CEO Satya Nadella unveiled new tools to drive efficiency and streamline operations.
Wedbush noted that these AI agents act as digital assistants, automating workflows, analysing data in real time, and delivering measurable outcomes.
Tools such as Dynamics 365's autonomous agents and Copilot's enhanced analytics reflect Microsoft's broader push to provide scalable, secure AI solutions for enterprise customers.
The potential financial impact is significant. Wedbush estimates that 70% of Microsoft's enterprise clients will adopt AI-driven tools within three years, boosting the company's AI revenue to over $10 billion annually as early as next quarter.
For every $100 spent on Azure, Microsoft's cloud platform, Wedbush projects an additional $40 in AI-related spending.
Since launching its Copilot tools last year, Microsoft has rolled out more than 300 updates, including real-time automation, language translation in Teams, and AI-powered task planning in Microsoft 365.
Wedbush analysts highlighted these features as key drivers of adoption, enabling businesses to integrate AI into mission-critical operations.
They also expect Microsoft to accelerate acquisitions to expand its AI offerings and maintain its competitive edge.
Reiterating its "outperform" rating, Wedbush described Microsoft as "in the driver's seat" of a transformative shift that Wedbush called a "once-in-40-years" technology revolution.
