Rajkummar Rao's Stree 2 became a huge success this year. The horror-comedy broke numerous records. However, following the massive success, rumors started that Rao had hiked his fees. In a recent conversation with The Indian Express, the actor dismissed this, saying he's not stupid to burden his producers.

The rumors started that after Stree 2, he's upped his fee to Rs. 5 crore. "I read different figures every day," said Rao. "I'm not stupid to burden my producers. Being a part of the biggest blockbuster is not going to change me as an actor, money is just a byproduct of my passion. I want to work all my life so I keep looking for roles that surprise me, excite me, challenge and help me grow."

Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's Stree, which was released in 2018, has been number one on Amazon Prime Video for the past few days. The film is ranked 7th in India's top 10 grossers list. According to reports, the horror-comedy film collected Rs. 180 crore worldwide. The film was made at a cost of Rs. 25 crore. The film was released and grossed seven times more at the box office.

After 6 years, Rao and Kapoor knocked it out of the park with Stree 2. Made on a budget of only 60 crore, it became a massive blockbuster at the worldwide box office, earning over Rs. 880 crore gross! The Stree sequel was released in theaters on 15 August 2024. It was the only successful Independence Day release this year. In fact, with earnings of over Rs. 600 crore, Amar Kaushik's directorial dominated the domestic box office for almost 1.5 months.

Stree 2 has concluded its theatrical run in India, garnering Rs. 627.50 crore net. It is the highest-grossing Hindi film, and the first to enter the Rs. 600 crore club. Rao and Kapoor starrer is also the second-highest-grossing Bollywood film after Jawan, which grossed Rs. 640.42 crore in all languages.

On the work front, Rao will be next seen in Maalik directed by Pulkit. This will be the first time Rao will be seen playing the role of a gangster in an action thriller. The shoot is now in progress, with an extensive schedule planned across various locations in India.
