The La Crosse Tribune will recognize the accomplishments of five high school athletes from our coverage area each week.

This week, we look at five volleyball players making contributions to their team's success. The efforts may not be the greatest statistically but are notable. We then invite readers to vote for the Supernova, the performance that most stood out to you.

Here are this week's nominees.

Holmen's Casey breaks 500-kills mark

Junior outside hitter Charley Casey reached a major career milestone as the Vikings (19-9, 9-2) picked up a pair of wins to keep their MVC title hopes alive.

Casey had a double-double on Tuesday against Sparta, recording 14 kills and 11 digs.

The Blugolds (21-3, 9-1)

edged ever closer to another conference title with a 3-0 win over Logan on Tuesday. Senior outside hitter Addison Foor played a major role with a statsheet-stuffing performance.

Foor led her team in just about every statistical category, finishing with 15 kills, 14 digs, three service aces and two total blocks. The duo of Foor and junior Sammy Davis both average four kills per set for a Blugolds team that's won eight of its last nine games.

Aquinas hosts Onalaska on Tuesday before closing the regular season on Thursday at Sparta.

Viroqua's Moilien serving up aces

Junior Emma Moilien had a hopping seven service aces and nine digs on Thursday as the Blackhawks (21-8, 5-5) defeated G-E-T on Tuesday.

Moilien followed that performance up with 19 assists and 23 digs in a five-set thriller against Onalaska Luther on Thursday. The Blackhawks came back from two sets down to force a tiebreaker. They fell in the final set 15-10.

Moilien and the Blackhawks make their final push into the postseason with games against Arcadia on Tuesday and Black River Falls on Thursday.

Wilson leads surging Onalaska squad

The Hilltoppers (17-8, 6-4) have accumulated five straight wins off the back of a Justagame Fieldhouse Invite title and a win over Sparta on Thursday.

Senior Maddy Wilson has been leading the way for Onalaska, racking up 30 kills in four matches at the JF Invite. Twelve of those came in the win over West Salem in the final match of the tournament.

Wilson kept the hot streak going against the Spartans with 10 kills, three service aces and two blocks.

Zittel assists Onalaska Luther resurgence

The Knights (16-12, 7-4) entered the week in a major slump with losses in seven of their last eight games. Senior Allie Zittel played a huge part in the team reversing course.

Zittel had 33 assists on Tuesday against Black River Falls, then followed up that performance with 32 more against Viroqua on Thursday. Both were game-high marks.

Zittel also had three service aces against the Tigers and recorded 13 digs at home against the Blackhawks.

The Knights wrap up their season Thursday at G-E-T.
