Opening Day 2025: How to watch Juan Soto in Mets debut vs. Astros for...

The expectations for the Mets ahead of today's Opening Day are sky-high.

After a deep playoff run that seemed improbable at the beginning of last season, the Mets came just short of a World Series appearance, falling to the eventual world champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS.

Then, in December, the Mets landed the offseason's most coveted free agent: Juan Soto. Soto, who played on the Yankees last season, signed with the Mets on a 15-year, $765 million contract.

After almost going the distance last year, can they do it again this year?

Only time will tell, and with a clean slate, there are 162 chances to make their mark - it all begins with today's Opening matchup against the Houston Astros.

The Mets vs. Astros game is today, March 27, at 4:10 p.m. ET.

If you live in the Mets television market (New York, New Jersey, parts of Eastern Pennsylvania, and Connecticut), you can watch today's opening day matchup on SNY.

If you live outside of the NY Metro TV market, you can stream the game with a subscription to MLB.tv.

For those who live in the Mets television market and don't have cable, here are two live TV streaming services that include SNY in their plans and offer free trials.

Though it's not free, you can also watch SNY live with its new in-market streaming package offered through MLB.tv. For $24.99/month (or $124.99/year), subscribers in the NY area will be able to stream every Mets game that airs on SNY. For die-hard Mets fans, this may be well worth the investment.

Living outside of the Mets TV market? No problem -- MLB.tv has you covered. You can take advantage of a seven-day free trial before payment begins for whichever of the two plans you choose.

There are options for an all-team pass ($29.99/month) and a single-team pass ($129.99/year).

New Met Clay Holmes will be on the mound for opening day. The former Yankee, who was previously a closer, has transitioned to a starting pitcher role for the Mets. Per MLB.com's Sarah Langs, Holmes will become the eighth pitcher in 125 seasons to start on Opening Day on his birthday.

The Astros will start Framber Valdez, who went 15-7 last season with an earned run average of 2.91.

After six games on the road (three in Houston and three against the Marlins in Miami), the Mets will return to Queens for a three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays beginning with the home opener on Friday, April 4 at 3:10 p.m. ET.
