Stonepeak's gas ship owner and operator, Seapeak, has added to its LNG fleet via a $213m deal with Copenhagen-based alternative investment fund manager Navigare Capital Partners.
The company said in its earnings release it had snapped up 100% interest in the 2021-built, 174,000 cu m Marvel Swan.
The deal included the existing charter ending in 2030, with extension options of up to two years.
The acquisition will be funded by cash on hand and long-term financing on the vessel, which Seapeak said it expects to secure by early 2025.
The Samsung Heavy Industries-built Marvel Swan is part of a series of eight LNG carriers on charter with Mitsui & Co to serve its LNG offtake from the liquefaction plant in Cameron, Louisiana.
Seapeak had 49 LNG ships, including newbuildings, at the end of September, alongside a fleet of 46 LPG, ethane and multigas carriers. The company offloaded four multigas units for a total of $30m between February and August this year.
