OKC dealt another injury blow as J-Dub leaves early vs. Hawks

Williams took a premature exit in the team's 104-99 Thursday home victory against the Atlanta Hawks, leaving with a nasty left ankle sprain.

Williams' ankle injury

In the team's offensive possession midway through the second quarter, J-Dub drove hard to the basket for a layup finish. Although he properly landed on his right foot first, the Thunder star couldn't do the same on his left foot as he eventually rolled his ankle.

Williams was visibly frustrated and in pain from the sequence as he held his ankle and slapped the floor loudly after crashing down.

The 23-year-old was escorted to the locker room for further medical attention. And a few moments later, the team officially announced that he won't return to the ball game, ending the night with 11 points on 5-for-6 shooting and three assists in 13 minutes.

Head coach Mark Daigneault announced further details about Jalen's condition, confirming the left ankle sprain as the injury that the OKC rising star sustained, which will be evaluated on Friday morning.

Considering the team's current injury situation as the 2024-25 regular season is just around a week away from beginning, we can only hope that J-Dub's ankle woes won't be so serious as to require him to be inactive for a significant stretch.
