ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) - Trillium Health will soon receive an additional $3-million in federal funding.
This will allow the organization to expand their current services and offer more options for their current patients, starting a 'new era' for the organization.
With some improvements and big additions made to their network, Trillium hopes to increase necessary health care access to many families in need across the Rochester area.
"This is going to allow us to do the next step of our journey to increase access, and that's what it's about in our community. How do we increase access to our underserved community?" President and CEO of Trillium Health Jason Barnecut-Kearns said.
This funding also opens up new opportunities for Trillium to receive even more funding going forward as they now qualify for recognition as a federally qualified health center or FQHC.
"Part of that is the base funding, the three-million-dollar award we're getting today, but also now we can access supplementary funding," Barnecut-Kearns said. So, to date we were never able to access those funds. We were never able to pay."
Now they can, and they plan to use the funding they receive in many different areas. They hope to expand their pharmacy, mental health and wellness services, and primary care options as well as add an additional new Trillium clinic located on Jefferson Avenue in the summer of 2025.
