GMKtec EVO-X1 HX370 is an AMD Strix Point mini PC with OCuLink support - Liliputing

Chinese mini PC maker GMKtec has begun showing off its first model powered by an AMD Strix Point processor.

The upcoming GMKtec EVO-X1 HX370 is a small desktop PC with an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor, LPDDR5x-7500 memory, and support for external graphics cards thanks to an OCuLink port with support for data transfer speeds up to 64 Gbps.

That's honestly about all we know so far - the company has posted an incomplete teaser image on Chinese social media, and appears to be talking up the mini PC at the GITEX show in Dubai. But I haven't seen a full spec sheet or any pictures that show all of the computer's ports yet. And there's no word on how much the EVO-X1 HX370 will cost when it hits the streets.

GMK is the latest in a line of Chinese mini PC makers to adopt AMD's Ryzen AI 370 processor. Others include MINISFORUM, Beelink, and AOOSTAR.

The chip is a laptop-class processor designed to run at 15 to 54 watts. It's a 12-core, 24-thread processor featuring 4 Zen 5 CPU cores and 8 Zen 5C cores with support for frequencies up to 5.1 GHz. It also has a 2.9 GHz AMD Radeon 890M integrated GPU with 16 RDNA 3.5 GPU cores and a Ryzen AI neural processing unit with support for up to 50 TOPS of AI performance.

While AMD, like most other tech companies these days, is working hard to push AI as a feature, it's worth keeping in mind that this is a pretty impressive mobile chip even if you have no interested in running Microsoft's Copilot+ PC software or any other applications that can leverage the NPU. It's a reasonably energy-efficient chip that offers the kind of performance that you would have expected from full-sized desktops a few years ago and the kind of graphics that you used to need an entry-level discrete GPU to achieve.

Whether the GMKTec EVO-X1 HX370 and other mini PCs with the processor are able to fully tap into those capabilities is something we'll find out after these little computers begin shipping.
