Is the CVTE EA Series the ideal choice for companies seeking ultra-responsive interactive displays? We tested one of these innovative screens to find out.
We've come a long way from the days of old-fashioned meeting rooms, where numerous employees had to meet in person and crowd around a table to collaborate. Today's conferencing spaces are packed with tech designed to bridge the gaps between distributed workers, streamline knowledge sharing, and boost productivity.
Touchscreen displays, like the CVTE EA Series, are becoming commonplace in hybrid workplaces, giving teams an easy and intuitive way to collaborate on projects. While they might not have all the bells and whistles of some high-tech, all-in-one screens, such as the Microsoft Surface Hub 3, they're still valuable investments for companies that want to unify and synchronize the workforce.
In this review, we'll share everything you need to know about the pros and cons of the CVTE EA Series, if you're searching for a high-quality interactive screen.
The CVTE EA Series is an excellent choice for organizations looking for meeting room hardware that can boost collaboration, productivity, and creativity. It's similar in many ways to the Avocor E Series of screens.
Like Avocor, CVTE has focused primarily on delivering an intuitive touchscreen experience rather than experimenting with built-in additional features like webcams and microphones. This means the EA Series might not be ideal if you're looking for an "all-in-one" conference room device, but it's great for brainstorming, training, and more.
The CVTE EA Series of interactive flat panel (IFP) displays is a selection of screens designed by CVTE (the company also responsible for brands like MAXHUB), for conference rooms. It builds on various collaboration and communication endpoints CVTE offers, such as webcams, LED walls, and speakerphones.
Though this display isn't as feature-rich as some other options we've tried, like the DTEN D7X AI-powered screen with a built-in microphone, speaker and webcam, it's ideal for a wide range of hybrid meetings. Whether you're brainstorming new ideas with your team members, designing products collaboratively, or training staff, these responsive screens are endlessly convenient.
The screens even come with integrated software for note-taking, screen recording, and screen sharing. Here's a quick overview of the tech specs.
First, like many interactive displays designed for conference rooms and collaborative settings, the CVTE EA Series comes in various sizes to suit different meeting rooms. You can choose between 55", 65" and 85" options, making it easy to equip small, mid-sized, and even large conferencing spaces with the same straightforward tech.
The display features an excellent 4K resolution, an integrated backlight unit, and a decent refresh rate of 60HZ in all sizes. It also has a phenomenal touchscreen response time, ranging from 6ms to 8ms, depending on screen size.
Notably, this is quite a basic selection of screens compared to some of the other options on the market. For instance, there's no "low blue light" setting or anti-smudge coating like you'd get with something like the BenQ Board Pro.
However, the overall visual experience is still excellent, and you get a set of built-in speakers for exceptional audio. You can also easily connect additional speakers (and other peripherals) to the screen, thanks to a wide selection of input options.
The quality of the interactive touchscreen experience is definitely what stands out most when you're using the CVTE EA Series. The company's years of experience creating products like the CE and EG series of IFPs for educational groups really shine through here. After all, in an academic setting, reliable touchscreen capabilities are a must-have.
First, the display features "optical bonding", which basically removes the gap between your stylus or finger, and the screen itself, creating a more natural writing experience. Users can choose between either using their fingers to draw on the screen, with 20 touchpoint recognition, or they can access greater precision with a set of included pens.
The pens are very impressive. They feel just as natural and ergonomic to hold as a regular pen and support 2048-level pressure sensitivity and 1.5mm writing accuracy. Plus, two people can use a pen at the same time and draw on the screen in different colors.
Another handy, but relatively simple feature I wanted to highlight about this touchscreen is that it does come with a convenient magnet pen holder, which attaches to any part of the display. Aside from giving you a convenient place to store your pens, this holder also allows you to wirelessly charge them when they're not in use, and instantly "reset" them to their default settings.
Although the CVTE EA Series is certainly designed for collaboration, it's not as feature-rich as some of the other interactive displays I've experimented with. As mentioned above, this screen doesn't have a built-in webcam or a microphone system. However, you can connect both of those manually with the included input ports. In fact, CVTE has a fantastic selection of add-on peripherals you can choose from, like 4K panoramic cameras and a UC bar.
It's also worth noting that although this screen isn't "Certified for Microsoft Teams" or any other specific meeting platforms, it should work seamlessly with all the software your team already uses. Its powerful Android operating system can easily manage most UC applications. Plus, there's support for other systems too, like Linux, Android, Mac OS X, and Windows.
The CVTE EA Series even comes with a few built-in software solutions of its own for collaborative teams, like the "Capture" software for screen recording and sharing, and the "Screen Share Pro" solution. Screen Share Pro makes it easy for users in a room to instantly project information from their smartphone or laptop on to the flat panel, without the need for any wires and cables.
You even get access to in-app device management, so you can control exactly which users can access the screen and share content at any time. Plus, there's included whiteboarding software "Note 5", which includes all the features you need to create graphs, annotate documents, and take notes.
From a performance perspective, the CVTE EA Series is excellent. Not only can you choose from a range of operating systems, but even if you use the standard Android solution, you should expect an ultra-fast, lag-free performance. When it comes to BYOD capabilities, we've already mentioned the handy "Screen Share Pro" option for wireless sharing.
If you prefer a wired connection, though, the EA Series comes with plenty of connection points for AV, HDMI, VGA, and USB connections. However, it's worth noting that this screen really only supports wall mounting, so finding the input ports can be a little tricky at times.
If you want more control over your devices from a distance, the built-in "Remote" software, accessible through the web, offers a few great features. You can use it to remotely start, shut down, and "deep freeze" screens from anywhere. Plus, there's a "bulletin" function for broadcasting messages, videos, and images to devices at speed.
Unfortunately, this software isn't a proper "endpoint management" solution. You can't use it to implement extra security features or create specific profiles for users. However, it is good for giving you a basic overview of device health, with handy graphs and charts.
Compared to some of the other interactive displays and all-in-one meeting room screens we've tried, the CVTE EA Series is a little basic. It doesn't come packed with all the bells and whistles of more advanced (and expensive) options like the Cisco Board Pro G2.
You don't get built-in microphones, webcams, and AI assistants with this screen, but you can expect an excellent collaborative experience. The ultra-responsive touchscreen, excellent sharing and connection options, and intuitive nature make it a fantastic choice for various hybrid meeting scenarios and settings.
If you're looking for a reliable touchscreen that doesn't cost a fortune and is incredibly easy to set up and use, then the CVTE EA Series may have just what you need.
