YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) - Mahoning County will get money from the state to help take hazardous waste out of an empty building and tear it down.
As part of the Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program, the county will receive $261,100 to remove asbestos from a deteriorating building at 1034 Wick Avenue, which used to be an auto parts store.
The building has been vacant for several years and is in disrepair, with collapsed ceilings and rusted materials inside.
The remediation will include asbestos abatement, building demolition and site restoration with clover ground cover.
