Desmond Howard Didn't Hesitate When Naming the 'Most Dangerous' Team in the SEC

The SEC has been one of the most drama-filled conferences in all of college football this season. Every team has suffered at least one loss, yet 16 of the 21 teams have a .500 or better record against SEC opponents.

With conference realignment and the expanded College Football Playoff, there has been a wider margin of error for every team in the country. This shift has made games more meaningful, and each contest more competitive, which was the intended outcome.

However, the inconsistency in performance across the conference has led to a lot of drama and controversy when comparing resumes and ranking teams.

On Saturday, the "College GameDay" crew revealed who they believe is the most dangerous team heading into Week 12 of the college football season. Desmond Howard, without hesitation, made his pick.

"I think the most dangerous team in the SEC right now is Ole Miss," Howard said. "When you slay the dragon, it does a lot for the confidence of your team. That's a dangerous thing right now for a team that has as much talent as Lane Kiffin's squad. I think Ole Miss, because of their confidence, is one of the most dangerous teams right now."

While the Rebels are on a bye week, they have firmly positioned themselves in the College Football Playoff race and now control their own destiny down the stretch of the season.

The biggest game on Saturday is set to take place in Athens, Georgia, between the No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers and the No. 12 Georgia Bulldogs. This matchup will have massive implications for both the SEC race and the playoffs, as it could potentially serve as an elimination game -- especially for Georgia, should they lose.

Nonetheless, if Ole Miss can get star wide receiver Tre Harris back into the lineup, the Rebels could truly be a force to reckon with. They're getting hot at the perfect time of the season, and their postseason hopes and National Championship hopes are very much alive.
